This is as close to the original large Mary Rose Elm bowl as it gets. Although not quite as large in diameter it is turned from an Elm tree that was around 250 years old. The tree lived in Edinburgh. I managed to make a nest of two. The large one is turned as an exact replica. The smaller inside bowl has a burning wire feature.
Elm is a very facinating wood and I would say it is my favorite. Color and texture is just perfect. A strong wood it is too and it has a rustic feel to it. Only recently I started to venture into nesting and find the process facinating. You get a second ( third, fourth) bowl from the same blank which means they all are within the same colour and grain alignment. Very attractive.
25cm x 9.5cm and 11cm x 5 cm
Wash with luke warm water.
Do not put it into microwave or dishwasher.
