Viking style wooden eating bowl in white oak

Eating Bowl-Saxon-Norman- Viking

Turned from a piece of white oak, a tree felled at Muncaster Castle, Cumbria. This is the last one I have from this wood. White oak is beautiful to turn green and it takes a very good finish. A small branch ran through the all of the bowl and it had enough folded fibre that opened up a tiny bit. I fixed a copper staple over it, so it would not open up wider.

It 's 20 cm wide and 7.5 cm high and will hold any amout of food to fill even the hungriest of Viking. Skol.

This one has a flat base and three  decorative bead as found on many Viking/ Saxon/ Norman  bowls as well as on some medivial bowls.

    Oiled and ready to use.

    no dishwasher or microwave please.
